Ingredients

1 cup dry unseasoned bread crumbs

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon basil

1/2 teaspoon dried celery leaves

1/2 teaspoon paprika
Preparation

Blend ingredients in a food processor or a blender. Store until ready to use.

When ready to use, dip fresh meat into margarine or oil, then coat with coating mix, one piece at a time.

Bake meat in the oven or fry in a skillet.
Helpful hints
- Make homemade dry breadcrumbs by toasting bread in the oven until dry and crisp. Process in a food processor or blender to make crumbs.

This mix keeps well in the freezer. Make extra for later use.

Try the following variations for additional flavors:

Beef or veal: add 1/2 teaspoon marjoram or oregano

Chicken: add 1/2 teaspoon thyme and ½ teaspoon sage
